Start of the Regional Domination In the time of Borommaratcha II's reign heavy fights with Kambuja Empire arose in which the Khmer try to get complete independence from Siam. But, as the Thais take in 1431 AD Angkor and try to crown unsuccessfully a King of Cambodia, the Khmer finally give up Angkor Wat as capital. The new capital becomes temporarily in 1432, which is further away from the border with Siam and then in 1434 AD the Khmer built Phnom Penh as their capital. A further Ayuthaya success was as Sukhothai was finally completely incorporated in 1438 AD. Only four years later, King Borommaratcha tries his luck against the Lanna again, wins the war but is not able to integrate the kingdom or even to make it a vassal state. The success is very limited as Ayuthaya can only capture and resettle war prisoners. After King Borommaratcha had died, King Trailok succeeded him and established a first reform period in the kingdom |
